Joko Triyanto, Ahmad Rois Syujak Copyright (c) 2026 Indonesian Journal of Muhammadiyah Studies (IJMUS) 2026-05-14 2026-05-14 7 1 1 9 The Transformation of Death Services as Muhammadiyah’s Da‘wah Strategy in South Kalimantan: https://www.ijmus.muhammadiyahsalatiga.org/index.php/ijmus/article/view/509
This article examines funeral management and death-related services as a form of structural and cultural da‘wah strategy implemented by Muhammadiyah in South Kalimantan. The study is motivated by the strong public trust in Muhammadiyah’s funeral services, which are utilized not only by Muhammadiyah members but also by the wider community across ethnic and various social backgrounds. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, this research integrates perspectives from the sociology of religion and Muhammadiyah’s social theology to analyze the practice of da‘wah bil ḥāl through death services. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis conducted at Al-Jihad Mosque in Banjarmasin, in the Hulu Sungai Tengah region, and within the operational activities of Lazismu ambulance services in South Kalimantan. The findings indicate that Muhammadiyah has successfully transformed funeral management from a domestic and traditional practice into a professional, standardized, and sharia-compliant public service. These death services not only provide psychological comfort for bereaved families but also function as an effective instrument of da‘wah in fostering public trust and social solidarity. For Dayak communities, Muhammadiyah’s funeral services serve as a socio-theological safety net that reduces the economic burden of customary death rituals and strengthens the sustainability of religious commitment among converts. This article concludes that da‘wah through funeral services represents a contextual and responsive model of Islamic propagation that aligns with the needs of contemporary society.
Agus Miswanto Alfa Nejatullah Muthahhari Copyright (c) 2026 Indonesian Journal of Muhammadiyah Studies (IJMUS) 2026-06-20 2026-06-20 7 1 10 20 The innovative functions of the AI-assisted book creator in supporting teachers’ administrative and learning needs https://www.ijmus.muhammadiyahsalatiga.org/index.php/ijmus/article/view/507
Abstract

The integration of digital authoring applications has provided new opportunities for teachers to create learning materials that are more engaging, relevant, and contextual to students’ needs. Nevertheless, in practice, many teachers have not yet fully optimized these technologies due to time constraints and limited digital literacy. This research explores the innovative functions of the AI-assisted Book Creator application in supporting both administrative and instructional needs of teachers in Semarang Regency and Salatiga who have previously participated in Book Creator training programs. This research employed a qualitative research design to capture teachers’ real-life experiences with using AI-assisted Book Creator in their daily professional practices. Data were collected through classroom observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of administrative and teaching documents. This approach enables the researchers to obtain a comprehensive understanding of how the application was utilized, adapted, and perceived by teachers in authentic educational contexts. The findings demonstrate that AI-assisted Book Creator was perceived as useful for administrative purposes such as organizing lesson plans, creating a digital portfolio, and compiling learning reports. The application also plays an important role in helping teachers develop interactive learning materials, digital student projects, and reflective learning documents. However, the research reveals persistent challenges, including teachers’ lack of digital literacy, the limited duration of training, internet connectivity, and infrastructure constraints. This research concludes that AI-assisted Book Creator has strong potential to support teachers’ administrative and pedagogical work when accompanied by institutional support and continuous professional development. The findings are expected to inform school leaders and educators in making more effective decisions regarding the integration of digital technologies, particularly Book Creator in Educational practice.

Keywords: Book Creator; Administrative needs; digital learning; educational technology.

Widyastuti, Marwanto Copyright (c) 2026 Indonesian Journal of Muhammadiyah Studies (IJMUS) 2026-06-20 2026-06-20 7 1 21 30
